For example, when I started my forums up to compliment my site, I simply had a logo that read 'NXE Wallpapers' in the centre of my banner. It became apparent as time went on that not everyone realised what the site was for. To me, the letters 'NXE' were obvious - the NXE dashboard on the Xbox 360. To anyone without and Xbox however, the letters mean whatever they want them to mean. So anyway, to really hit home what the forums were about, I ended up sticking 'Xbox 360' over the top of the 'NXE Wallpapers' title, and a Big Daddy and Tank and Boomer on either end of the banner!
I guess a long story short here is that people move around the internet extremely fast, and rarely stop to check something out unless it immediately takes their interest. In light of this, your logo should not only be eye-catching, but also represent what it is that you do on the site.
Hope this helps in some way!

The only thing I would recommend is that you have something that represents your site incorporated into your logo. Despite being a bit too religious, the alpha and the omega would fit nicely into a gAmergeddOn logo, if you get my point.

I thought that the whole "beginning of the end" thing kinda reminds of the whole biblical "I am the alpha and the omega" thing, beginning and end: <a
