AtomHex review

AtomHex is a Geometry Wars inspired twin stick shooter with some new new ideas to bring to the table. You control a space ship trapped in a world of Atoms and Hexes using the left analogue stick to move and the right analogue stick to fire shots, these shots are coloured yellow, red, green and blue and you can only destroy enemies of the same colour. You change shot colour by collecting the coloured Hexes. (more…)

Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Gameplay Uncut: Flag Runner

Infinity Ward have released a new Modern Warfare 2 trailer showing the Flag Runner multiplayer game in action. It looks great and if you pay attention you can see some of the kill streak perks such as the UAV for three kills, Air Drop for four and Predator Missile for five kills, which I think is shown in action at 21 seconds into the video in the background. You can also see some of the weapons available when the player moves over them and the kill stats that pop up which shows some interesting and funny info. Keep watching to…

Wacky Karts review

Wacky Karts is a clone of Mario Kart for the SNES. For those unfamiliar with the Mario Kart series, it is a Go Kart racing game which was more about the fun than serious racing and featured power ups which included turbo boosts and red shells which crashed opponents. The game series are a classic and in my opinion the SNES version is still the best ;) Make no bones about it, in Wacky Karts the Mode 7 style graphics, the Karts, track locations and power ups are all copied from the Nintendo classic. So how does Wacky Karts fare…

Upcoming reviews and some other stuff

This site has been open for just over a month and was originally a small experiment on running a games blog, so I thought I would post an update on what I have planned. I have been kept very busy with reviews of XBLA and Indie Games and over the coming couple of weeks I will be working on clearing the backlog of games to review. On the list to review are Wacky Karts, AtomHex, Gum Drop Celestial Frontier, Track Architect, Trino and some games being released in the near future. To help clear the backlog I have enlisted the…

360 Mega App Pack HD Review

Review by Matthew On firing up the self proclaimed Mega App Pack I was greeted by a black and white spinning background with the title in the foreground in a mixture of fonts. It was playing some repetitive electronic music at me so I pressed start to get to the main menu where the music continued and I was presented with a list of the applications contained in the Mega App Pack.  I’ll give a brief review of each of the 8 parts making up this compendium. (more…)

Planet Delta review

Your traditional sphere dropping game sees coloured spheres being dropped from the top of the screen which fall to the bottom, when three or more spheres are touching they are removed from the screen until you clear them all. If you build up too many spheres and they reach the top of the screen it is game over. Planet Delta is essentially a sphere dropping puzzle game but with some twists. (more…)
