News Bytes

I thought that instead of posting many small bits of news during the week I would do a round up post with the witty title of News Bytes :) The Call Of Duty: World at War Map Pack 3 has got a release date of August 6th costing 800 :MSPoints:. It has three new multiplayer maps and one new Zombie map. It is very soon after the release of map pack 2, no doubt because of the big titles over the next few months, so just time to squeeze in map pack 3.  More details on Map Pack 3 here.…

Xbox Dashboard Preview Program impressions

I spent a bit of time with the new Xbox Dashboard due for public release on August 11th. Microsoft created a preview program which allows people to try the dashboard a couple of weeks earlier. The update takes around three minutes to download and install, after which you are presented with the familiar NXE dashboard. Nothing has instantly visually changed and requires a bit of exploring to find it all, or you can continue reading for my impressions below to find out all the main changes. (more…)

Welcome to Emuholic’s Game Blog

I set this game blog up originally just to give my reviews a homepage but it has since been updated to include a few other bits and pieces. I am not looking to compete with big (or even small) games sites and post every bit of news as it is released, instead I will only be posting the interesting or different news. The main purpose of the site will be for reviews of the games I play, of which I aim to publish a review every two weeks or if time and the game allows it more often. In between…

1 vs 100 Beta review

The Xbox 360 Primetime game 1 vs 100 is now in its fourth week in UK and I thought I would start off my games site with my impressions of the game. 1 vs 100 on the 360 is a free to play game for Gold Xbox Live subscribers and mostly follows the same format of said quiz show shown on BBC 1 during the Lottery shown on Saturdays. On Live games on Friday and Saturday evenings, a member of the public, The One, is put against one hundred Mob members who must answer general knowledge questions. Everyone else, an…

Infinity Ward have released a new trailer of Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer showing what appears to be the first of fifteen killstreak perks available in the game. The trailer shows the player selecting the AC130 airplane which then lets the player control the airstrike via a laptop, it looks amazing! Check out the video below and let it play to the end for a little extra scene :)

Marvel VS. Capcom 2 hits XBLA this week

This Wednesday, the second in the Summer of Games promotion, sees the classic arcade game Marvel vs. Capcom 2 punching and kicking it's way to Xbox Live Arcade. While the game has not received the full SF2HD new graphics treatment, it does have upscaled and enhanced HD resolutions and widescreen support. Also new to the game is online two player support and leaderboards to see who is the best among friends and the world. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will cost 1200 :MSPoints: and full details can be found on

Xbox Indie Games launches

Yesterday saw the launch of the newly renamed Xbox Indie Games, formerly Xbox LIVE Community Games.  With the renaming comes some new features for indie developers such as the addition of Japan and Germany to its supported countries to submit software and a reputation system which will allow people to score games. Developers now have the opportunity to hand out up to 50 Tokens to the community as review copies for example and last but not least a new pricing structure. As a developer myself, the changes are a good improvement on the system. The new pricing structure is especially…

Playing This Week

This is the first in a weekly look at what I have been playing in the last seven days. Last Friday saw the dramatic '$£#% this game and near throwing controller at TV' after playing Call of Duty:WaW with some friends. Is it just me or has nearly every player started using the MP40 in the past couple of weeks. Until then MP40's were a problem but were easily dealt with as only a few people were using them. Now it is a miracle if you do get shot by any other weapon, when I got killed by a snipers…
