Indie Game releases 4th August

Time for a look at the latest releases on Indie Games for the 360. All releases are played for the eight minutes allowed in trials and impressions are made from that. Extreme RPS Online is a Rock, Paper, Scissors game with very nice presentation and graphics. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into the game and features an Arcade and Story mode, Local and Online multiplayer with a good choice of characters. At 200 :MSPoints: I feel it is a bit expensive for what the game actually is if you ignore all the presentation, 80 :MSPoints: would be ideal…

Playing This Week

I have not had a great deal of time the past week to play any games, I spent most of it performing software upgrades on my other site and also getting things ready for the launch of this site. I did however manage to find a bit of time to play the following: I spent an hour or two on Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, mostly designing some new mental vehicles to play around in. I ran out of time playing this as I was waiting on a local server test upgrade to finish. I really need to get back…

News Bytes 4th August 2009

This weeks Deal of the Week for Gold subscribers is R-Type Dimensions. The price has been dropped from 1200 to 800 :MSPoints: and if you have never played R-Type before be sure to check it out. It is a great sideways shooter which in this game features the classic and new graphics mode. Try the trial here. Fallout 3: Mothership Zeta DLC is now available for purchase. The possibly final DLC for Fallout 3 is a split from the normal Fallout 3 and sees your player being captured by aliens. I have heard mixed comments on the DLC so you…

Madballs: Babo Invasion Review

Madballs first invaded kids bedrooms back in the mid 80's as collectible foam balls with names such as Screamin Meemie, Skull Face and Crack Head - later renamed to Bash Brain for obvious reasons. Fast forwarding to more recent years has seen a relaunch of the brand with a redesigned collection of Madballs and now the release of Madballs: Babo Invasion for Xbox Live Arcade. (more…)

Indie Game releases

This is the first of a regular bi weekly feature to get the often overlooked Indie Games a bit of attention. Indie Games recently had a revamp and the forthcoming dashboard update will allow Xbox Live members to vote each release. It should be a good addition which will help promote the games. The first game we are featuring is Heavy Payload which is a top down shoot-em-up in the style of 1942. You must defend yourself from the enemy planes as you reach your mission target. The game features an Arcade mode in traditional scrolling 1942 style and an…

Xbox Live Update (Preview) has smaller game install sizes

One of the features not listed in the changes for the next 360 dashboard update is that games have smaller hard drive install sizes than the current dashboard. Many users are reporting games such as Left 4 Dead saw a reduction from 4GB to and Forza 2 from to I tried this myself with COD:WaW and saw a reduction from to , it is not a massive saving in my case but some games have better results than others. There is an ongoing list at Cheap Ass Gamer here.

News Bytes

I thought that instead of posting many small bits of news during the week I would do a round up post with the witty title of News Bytes :) The Call Of Duty: World at War Map Pack 3 has got a release date of August 6th costing 800 :MSPoints:. It has three new multiplayer maps and one new Zombie map. It is very soon after the release of map pack 2, no doubt because of the big titles over the next few months, so just time to squeeze in map pack 3.  More details on Map Pack 3 here.…

Xbox Dashboard Preview Program impressions

I spent a bit of time with the new Xbox Dashboard due for public release on August 11th. Microsoft created a preview program which allows people to try the dashboard a couple of weeks earlier. The update takes around three minutes to download and install, after which you are presented with the familiar NXE dashboard. Nothing has instantly visually changed and requires a bit of exploring to find it all, or you can continue reading for my impressions below to find out all the main changes. (more…)

Welcome to Emuholic’s Game Blog

I set this game blog up originally just to give my reviews a homepage but it has since been updated to include a few other bits and pieces. I am not looking to compete with big (or even small) games sites and post every bit of news as it is released, instead I will only be posting the interesting or different news. The main purpose of the site will be for reviews of the games I play, of which I aim to publish a review every two weeks or if time and the game allows it more often. In between…

1 vs 100 Beta review

The Xbox 360 Primetime game 1 vs 100 is now in its fourth week in UK and I thought I would start off my games site with my impressions of the game. 1 vs 100 on the 360 is a free to play game for Gold Xbox Live subscribers and mostly follows the same format of said quiz show shown on BBC 1 during the Lottery shown on Saturdays. On Live games on Friday and Saturday evenings, a member of the public, The One, is put against one hundred Mob members who must answer general knowledge questions. Everyone else, an…
