Geddon It!

Flight Adventure 2 – 240 – Marketplace – Trailer

Flight Adventure 2 is a flight simulator featuring (licensed) P-51 Mustang aircraft. You can free fly around the map or race against another plane either locally with a ghost plane or online with a friend. I am far from being a good pilot so I can’t say if the controls are good or not, but I could fly the plane so they can’t be bad. Graphics are nicely done with decent landscapes to explore, both internal and external camera views are possible. This flight sim probably wont be for everyone but if you have an interest in aircraft you should check it out.

FITS-Fishing in the sea – 240 – Marketplace – Trailer

XBLIG has a lack of fishing games so FITS-Fishing in the sea goes a bit of the way to filling in the gap. Up to four players can take part in a fishing competition split over a number of stages. Players take turns to set the bait then cast it, when the float sinks you simply press the A button to reel the fish in. It is very easy to play and should be good fun with some friends. There are around 100 varieties of fish to catch and they are added to the record so there are no excuses for the one that got away Fishing fans will love the game but I recommend everyone take a look as it is a fun game. 

SteamSunk – 80 – Marketplace – Trailer

SteamSunk is a twin stick arena shooter. The battles take place on the sea and waves of enemies include both sea and air vehicles. There seems to be a good number of weapons and power ups to collect from the wreckage left by enemies including the usual machine guns and the always fun flamethrower. The sea location makes a change from land based combat and is worth a try at least.

Geddon It!

Dark Delve – 80 – Marketplace – Trailer

Dark Delve is a dungeon crawler in a similar style to Bards Tale and more recently the Nintendo DS game The Dark Spire. You control a party of adventurers exploring dungeons and must solve simple puzzles such as finding a lever which stops the flow of slime, while attacking enemies in a turn based format. The campaign mode allows you to create a party of up to four players, or you can play the challenge mode which creates everything for you automatically and sets you a task to complete. If you are a fan of dungeon crawlers you have probably already headed over to the marketplace to purchase this game, if not then what you waiting for? Give the trial version a try, it looks to be a bargain for 80 :MSPoints.

FastBall 2 – 80 – Marketplace

The popular casual game from the iPhone makes its way to XBLIG. Fastball is a simple yet addictive game that sees you controlling a ball which moves along the platforms, you press a button to avoid obstacles such as walls or traps and collect stars. This genre has been done to death with ‘marathon’ style levels where you must survive for as long as possible, but Fastball is cut down to shorter levels which makes the game much more casual and enjoyable. Graphics and audio are nicely done and it plays very well, I definitely prefer the shorter levels than the marathon levels. It is only 80 and well worth a try.

Robotriot – 80 – Marketplace – Trailer

Robotriot is a retro style platform game where you play the role of Slug, a freelance inter-galatic repossessions agent. Your task is to explore the levels and take over the ship by reaching the end of the level. Obstacles include enemy robots and hazards which usually require you to find and deactivate the power by shooting a switch. The 16-bit graphics style looks great and combined with the authentic music it feels like you are playing a retro game. My only concern is that the game may be a little short, it says there are 12 levels and I breezed through the first few within the trial period, so this is something to be aware of as it could be short but sweet. Give the trial a go at least and decide from that.

You also get to manage a couple of capital ships that can be moved around to attack the enemy and can build other things like weapon platforms and bombs.

Geddon It!

Sideral Defense – 240 – Marketplace – Trailer

Sideral Defense is a Tower Defense style strategy game. You must defend your home planet from space pirates by placing turrets on the surrounding asteroids which act as pathways leading from the pirates spawns to your planet. You can also place harvesters on the asteroids which give you income to spend on better defenses. The whole Tower Defense genre has been done to death but the multiple pathways used in the game, while not original, adds a welcome twist. The game does cost 240 but it looks to be worth the point, definitely one to check out before deciding to buy at least.

The Fall of Gods – 240 – Marketplace – Trailer

The Fall of Gods – Chapter 1 is an action RPG which is supposedly ten hours in length. It follows the classic top down view used in older RPGs which I prefer to the modern styles. It is hard to get a good sense of how good a RPG is within the trial limit but from what I played it looks to be decent. Despite the classic looks, combat is handled in real time on the game map instead of being whisked off to a turn based battle so it turns out to be a nice mix of styles. My only annoyance is the long loading times when returning to the main map after exploring a cave for example. Give the game a try, it is possible to save the game and reload after the trial has expired but there is a one hour limit so you can get a good feel for the game before deciding to buy or not.

Puzzled Rabbit – 80 – Marketplace – Trailer

Puzzled Rabbit is a charming little game for anyone who enjoys solving puzzles. The game is based on a classic concept of sokoban and features almost 200 challenging levels. Try it and you won’t regret!

Tunnelvision – 240 – Marketplace – Trailer

Tunnel Vision is a fast paced shooter. Tunnel Vision translates traditional 2D shooter mechanics into 3D. Traditional 2D shooters are about finding gaps in areas of relatively slowly moving bullets. Most modern 3D shooters mostly work on the mechanics of aiming and taking cover. Tunnel Vision takes the idea of complex firing patterns and slowly moving bullets into the third dimension.

Avatar Fighter Online – 80 – Marketplace

Geddon It!

Redd: The Lost Temple – 240 – Marketplace – Trailer

Redd: The Lost Temple is an action adventure game in which you play the explorer Redd. The World is in danger from an unknown threat and you must explore an underground cave network to find the source. The caves are full of traps, puzzles and of course enemies. The presentation is top notch with some great graphics and good voice acting which works together very well. There are a few minor annoyances with cheap deaths by stumbling near the sides of pits, but these will be addressed in a title update soon. We recently reviewed the full game here and Kyle had nothing but praise for the game, definitely one to check out.

Ninjah – 80 – Marketplace

Ninjah is a puzzle platformer where you must get from the start to the exit as fast as possible, similar to N+. You control a ninja who has two abilities, a rope to reach high places and a jetpack which can be used to hover. The puzzle element comes in the form that certain platforms are a specific colour which your character must match otherwise he dies. Presentation is fairly good with retro style graphics and the controls seem to work well enough. If you are a fan of games in this genre then Ninjah is well worth downloading.

Hacotama – 240 – Marketplace – Trailer

Hacotama is a puzzle game set in a virtual world. The aim of the game is to get balls on to lights found on a series of floating blocks. You can move the balls by standing on them and running to roll them. The presentation is done well and the graphics look very good with shiny balls the reflect the surrounding area. If you enjoy puzzle games then this should be perfect, definitely worth playing the trial version at least.

Luckily she seems to like you, so she takes you in and teaches you the art of alchemy. Zombies ruined my day – 80 – Marketplace – Trailer

The game follows the story that Zombies have ruined the guys day after he was having such a great day. Understandably the guy is angry so what else can he do but to kill them all? Fortunatly he has access to a nice selection of weapons and barricades to complete the task. Waves of zombies appear on the screen and you must kill them, simple. The game starts a little slow but it picks up as you get access to more weapons. The graphics and audio are done well. It looks to be a decent game and at only 80 it should keep you occupied for a while, check it out.

Pixel Blocked is a puzzle game. The aim of the game is simple, fill in a grid of missing blocks by shooting your block cannon at the grid. There are over 180 levels to work your way through and plenty of variety in terms of the designs of the grid and the types of blocks such as magnetic and disintegrating ones. Star Ninja – 80 – Marketplace – Trailer

Star Ninja is a physics based game, you play as a ninja who must shoot his limited number of ninja stars at the pirates to defeat them all and complete the puzzle. The game is put together well with nice graphics and sound effects, reminding me of games such as Angry Birds in style. Fans of this genre will enjoy the game a lot and at only 80 it is a must buy.

Plague – 80 – Marketplace – Trailer

Plague is a side scrolling action platform game. A devastating computer virus has brought the world to its knees and you play as the last remaining anti-virus fighting your way through the levels. There are plenty of enemies and just as many weapons to pick up and use against them. All in all, it is a decent platform game and good fun to play. Another bargain at 80 !

Avatar Ninja! 2 – 80 – Marketplace

Avatar Ninja! 2 is Milkstone Studios latest game which comes with all the features you expect from them; good graphics, fun gameplay and an ever present reminder of your global leaderboard position. You are a ninja and the aim of the game is to make your way along the course avoiding the obstacles in your way. You must constantly tap the A button to move your character and the other buttons perform actions which jump, duck and throw ninja stars at the obstacles. Avatar Ninja! 2 is one of those games you wont spend hours playing non-stop but is perfect for a short burst blasts when you have some free time.

Vizati – 80 – Marketplace – Trailer

Vizati is a puzzle game which requires you to rotate a magic cube and connect the coloured stones by using gravity, rotation and flipping. The story mode is done well with the characters Julie and Peter who discover the cube and move the story along between the 50 playable levels. The Arcade mode puts you straight into the action cutting out the story. Presentation is done very well and it all looks very slick with nice graphics. It only costs 80 and seems to be well worth the price!

Stick ‘Em Up 2 – 240 – Marketplace – Trailer

Stick ‘Em Up 2 is a run and gun platform game featuring a cast of stick figure characters. The action takes place over a variety of locations including building tops, ships and even the moon. There are weapons and vehicles to go with the locations such as spears for the jungle level and moon buggy’s on the moon. The game is fun to play and the variety of weapons and locations keeps the game interesting. Up to four players can play either co-op or against each other in versus mode, unfortunately it is local only so no online play. Out of this weeks releases this is perhaps the most fun to play, though it does cost 240 , would have been perfect at 80. Still, give it a try, good fun.
