Skullgirls is set in Canopy Kingdom, a world that puts you in control of a group of fierce female warriors in an attempt to control a mysterious artefact known as the Skull Heart. If the heart falls in to the wrong hands it will cause the owners wishes to become a living nightmare and will be known as the Skullgirl.
The game features eight playable characters including amnesiac schoolgirl Filia and a sassy circus performer Cerebella. The usual play modes include a VS mode, arcade mode, story mode and training mode. An interesting feature is the ability to share replays and highlights of matches via Youtube and Facebook.
Skullgirls is due for release some time in 2011 and will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
