Christmas Tree 3D review

Christmas Tree 3D is a Christmas tree decorating application, does it work well or leave pine needles all over your floor which you are still finding six months later?

You can choose from a pre decorated tree or create your own. I get lumbered with decorating the tree at home every year so I stuck with the trend and created my own. You get an empty tree which can be rotated and zoomed in and out which is set outside in a town square. You move the cursor around the predetermined object locations on the trees branches and can place one of two types of objects; decorations or lighting.

There are five types of decoration including stars, balls and tears which can be changed to a variety of colours. Lighting comes in three types with your normal bulbs, blinking and flip-flops which can also be colour changed. Placement of these objects is straightforward, drop an item on the tree and then press the menu to change the type and/or the colour. I would have liked to have seen a bit more variety in the decorations such as candy canes and mini presents.

Once you have decorated your tree you can set the camera to automatic which slowly rotates the camera view in 3D around the tree. It is fine watching for a minute or two but you will loose interest after a while, I guess you could have it running in the background while eating Christmas dinner or something. Throughout the experience there are several Christmas songs to listen to including Jingle Bells and Holy Night. You can save and load a Christmas tree which is a plus.

Christmas Tree 3D costs 240 :MSPoints: which I feel is a bit expensive for what it does and the lifespan of the application. As a ‘single player’ experience this is hard to recommend but my suggestion would be to set up a challenge for the family to individually decorate the best tree to get the most value out of this application. You can find more information as well as the trail and full versions on the Marketplace.
