Most Anticipated PC Video Games of 2012

2011 was a great year for gamers of all types, and 2012 appears to be shaping up to continue the trend. Whatever the flavor of your persuasion, there are some games that no self-respecting player should miss. Here are three of those upcoming games, available on the PC, that should have gamers of all stripes salivating.

  • Syndicate, by Snowblind Studios. Release Date: February 21

The cyberpunk action game is a welcome fresh face in a genre dominated by military shooters, and is actually a reboot to the classic top-down shooter of the same name released in 1993. You play as a cyber-espionage agent for a less than ethical global corporate syndicate. Your character is equipped with a chip in his brain that lets him remote hack computers, slow time, and use mind control to take down his enemies. It looks like it will bring the same twist on FPS gameplay introduced by Bioshock into a dystopian future.

  • Max Payne 3, by Rockstar Games. Release Date: May 15

This fan favorite was the first game to introduce the now ubiquitous bullet-time mechanic to third-person shooters, but it has been nine years since the release of Max Payne 2. The game itself acknowledges this, and is set eight years since we last saw Max, suffering the consequences of the last game’s ending. Although Rockstar wasn’t the game’s original developer, their track record should give every fan high hopes for this title.

  • Mass Effect 3, by Bioware. Release Date: March 6.

Join Commander Shepard in the final installment of arguably the most epic RPG series of the past decade. Bioware is known for their storytelling, but they managed to incorporate third-person shooter action into a genre known for stagnant gameplay. Even if they simply slapped a new story on the same game engine from part two, the game would be worth picking up, but all they have continued to branch out, and have incorporated online multiplayer functionality.

Of course, in order to play any bleeding edge games, you’ll need a great gaming PC. Whether you’re on a budget, or looking to build a gaming behemoth, Dell Desktop computers can help you build a PC that will fit your needs. After all, you won’t just be spending all those hours with your favorite games. You’ll be spending it with your computer. So make sure your machine is up to date to get the most out of your gameplay experience.
