A World of Keflings – Zombiesaurus DLC review

Boxart

The second A World of Keflings DLC in as many weeks hit the Xbox Marketplace today, The Curse of the Zombiesaurus takes a trip to Kefsylvania.

The Zombiesaurus DLC came around as a bit of a gamble from the developers. Originally the DLC was the most popular choice between the developers and when it was put to the public vote as to which DLC should be released, Candy Kingdom (last weeks release) won. The developers had to stop work on Zombiesaurus and get Candy Kingdom ready for release first.

Zombiesaurus takes on a brand new theme, this time a horror theme set in a dark mysterious land filled with spooky trees, gravestones, volcanoes and ghosts all of which are farmable and provide the resources to build new buildings. New buildings include a Cackling Skull, Catatonic University, a Labatorium and Count Kefalas Castle, they all do the same or similar job as the core game just with a different and more fun name.

The game tasks are a little more involving than Candy Kingdom and challenge you to find hidden items around the world, chase after mysterious eyes which appear and disappear and of course resources gathering and transporting and building new buildings from blueprints. One new addition is the Scarecrow which can be dropped on a building to create special resources. A few new characters make an appearance such as Wilhelm the Gatekeeper, named after the famous Wilhelm scream movie sample, who should raise a chuckle or two. The end task is to create a building to house a new monster aka the Zombiesaurus to move into. My favourite thing of the DLC are the zombie Keflings who shuffle around the world while performing their tasks, a nice touch!

My time in Kefsylvania lasted a little longer than Candy Kingdom, just shy of two hours if you are familiar with the game, add an extra 30 to 60 minutes if you are less familiar. Personally I preferred Zombiesaurus than Candy Kingdom because the challenges were more varied and engaging. If you are a fan of Keflings the DLC is a must buy at 320 :MSPoints:.

The DLC is available today from the Xbox Marketplace.
