Indie Games round up 2nd February

Here is the latest round up of Indie Game releases and updates. The round ups should be back to the usual bi-weekly schedule now I have spent most of the weekend playing Mass Effect 2, not enough hours in a day!

Absorb is a kind of puzzle game where you must absorb coloured spheres with your own sphere of which you must change to an opposing colour to do so. Remembering the opposing colour is a little tricky at first but once you get the hang of it the game is not bad. The graphics are rather basic but after a few levels the challenge ramps up a bit and requires some quick thinking. Absorb costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.

Cavemen Vs Aliens is a real time strategy game in which you must capture islands and defend against the Alien invasion. The presentation and graphics are very good and the game play looks to be solid. Although the game does cost 400 :MSPoints: this is well worth checking out as it could easily pass for a XBLA game. You can find more information on the Marketplace here and a trailer below.

Fire Up is a puzzle game which you must connect pipes to put out a burning building. The game idea is good in concept but I found the game to be too easy and breezed through the five levels allowed in the trial, it may get harder in the full game but there was no way to find out. Fire Up costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.

Glide is an air hockey game which supports up to four players locally and online. The graphics are a little basic but the game seems to play well and there is a bonus breakout style game which you can play which was not too bad. This is a game more for multiplayer so if you have a few friends locally or online it should be worth a try. Glide costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.

Hard 2 Morrow is a kind of pong game on steroids, gladiators battle it out in a very well presented game with good graphics and music. The CPU opponents were OK to play against but against a friend it is much more fun. Worth checking out just for the quality of everything, not too bad in single player but more for two players. Hard 2 Morrow costs 240 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.

Hockey Fights is a simple fighting game in which you punch your opponent and block his attacks. The graphics and presentation are done well but as is the case for many of Silver Dollar Games there is not much too the game and it ends up in a mostly button bashing exercise. Hockey Fights costs 80 :MSPoints: and is worth trying the trial at least, more information can be found here.

Invasion Defender is a Tower Defense style game in which you must stop the waves of enemies from getting to the other side of the map. The graphics are pretty good and the map can be zoomed and rotated which is useful. From what I played in the trial this looks to be a decent game, well worth checking out if you are a fan of this genre! Invasion Defender costs 240 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.

Kollectiv360 is a match three style puzzle game that is played in real time as new blocks are added to the board. Presentation and graphics are done well and the twist on the genre looks to be quite good. I enjoyed playing the trial and the gameplay felt good and was already learning some nice tactics to my advantage. Kollectiv360 costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.

Rotor’scope is a puzzle game amongst an adventure story, like those Professor Layton games on the DS. There is only one puzzle type in this game which you must rotate and flip a maze like board to match three blocks. The presentation is very well done and could easily pass as a XBLA game, there is also the possibility to publish your scores to Facebook via a in game code system which is a nice touch, you can also create your own puzzles to share with friends. If you like these kind of games this is well worth checking out, I don’t think you will be disappointed! Rotor’scope costs 400 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.

Samurai vs Zombie is a survival arena style game in which you choose from a variety of weapons and dispatch the zombies in a bloody carnage. There are two modes, the survival mode for up to four players and a challenge mode which you must kill the zombies in a specified way. The game was quite fun and the challenge mode in particular is a good addition providing a distraction from mindlessly killing zombies. Samurai vs Zombie costs 80 :MSPoints: and is worth checking out, more information can be found here and a trailer below.

Your Doodles Are Bugged! is finally released! The aim of the game is to get the Doodles to safety by drawing lines to help them jump to new platforms. The game reminds me of the classic Lemmings amongst other games so if you are old enough to remember it you should be downloading it as you read this 🙂 The presentation and graphics are done well and the controls are simple to get to grips with, it all works great. Your Doodles Are Bugged! costs just 80 :MSPoints: and is easy to recommend checking out, more information can be found here and a trailer below.

Titles that have received a software update or price change are Lord Ownage:UnBritish Invasion, Jungle Blocks, Guns Loaded, Crate Expectations, Astro Taxi, A Killer’s Dream, Satellites, Horn Swaggle Islands and Venatio Creo.
