Golden Sun: Dark Dawn Review

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn follows on from the absolutely fantastic Golden Sun and Lost Age games on the Gameboy Advance. After a 7 year absence the series finally makes a welcome return for the Nintendo DS.  Too say I have been eagerly awaiting this is a massive understatement. Is it a shining example in the series or will I need a Djinn and tonic? (more…)

Disney Epic Mickey Review

Disney Epic Mickey has been talked about for a long time. Any frequent visitor to the big videogame sites will no doubt have seen or read something about it. Hailed as the next big thing on Wii, a potential Mario-killer and the game to bring Mickey Mouse back into the spotlight. Warren Spector’s creation is finally here, but is it an Epic Win or will you want to be Burning Down the Mouse? (more…)

Donkey Kong Country Returns Review

I have never been a real fan of the Donkey Kong games. I missed out on the original SNES game, however am fully aware of how great it is supposed to be graphically and to play. I played Donkey Kong 64 and the Jungle Beat which were different takes on the series. DKCR goes back to the root with its high octane, hard as nails, 2d platforming. Will this game win me over or have me going ape? (more…)

Goldeneye 007 Review

The original Goldeneye for the N64 is one of the greatest games of all time, that’s a fact. It was the game which really showed how great console FPS can be, with fantastic graphics and game play as well as an unbeatable multiplayer. This version is a modern take on the story, bringing in Daniel Craig instead of Brosnan as the legendary Bond. Does it cash in on the original’s good name or does it have a licence to thrill? (more…)

Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2 Review (Wii)

The original Force Unleashed was a beautiful looking game which allowed players to feel like the ultimate Jedi badass, wielding the force in ways we have never seen. Unfortunately the game felt like an impressive demo rather than a full game. Force Unleashed 2 claims to iron out the problems of the first game and be an overall bigger and better package. Is it a case of Star Wars or Star Bores? (more…)

Kirby’s Epic Yarn Review

Kirby is the character of choice for me when I play Super Smash Bros Brawl. He is right up there alongside Mario and Link when it comes to iconic Nintendo characters. This is mainly due to the great Kirby games which appeared on the original Gameboy. During the era of the N64 and GameCube, he appeared in a couple of instantly forgettable games which meant he played second fiddle to the better known Nintendo mascots. Kirby’s Epic Yarn aims to reboot to the Kirby franchise and to make the pink ball a favourite to a new generation of young gamers.…

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode 1 Review

Sonic is one of the most iconic game characters of all time. In the day of the 16 bit era I was a huge fan and chose the blue mammal over the portly plumber. With the move to 3D, Mario has gone from strength to strength, whereas Sonic has been on a downward spiral. SEGA have decided to go back to the traditional old school 2D style with this downloadable only release. This review is based on playing the Wii version but is much the same for XBLA and PSN versions of the game. (more…)

The Lord of the Rings : Aragorn’s Quest Review

It has been seven long years since Frodo took the one ring into the fiery depths of Mordor and destroyed the evil Lord Sauron. The blockbuster films became instant fan favourites and hold a high place in many hearts, including my own. Unfortunately the videogame adaptations have been a real mixed bag. The licensed games had the looks but not the gameplay to match. The last game of note being Lord of the Rings Battlefront, which was in a nutshell, pants. Now we have a new game for the Wii which is aimed at younger gamers, but is it a…
