Indie Games releases 20th September

A new addition for today and hopefully future Indie Games trial impressions is that I will be adding trailers for the new releases if they are available. To save space they will be added at the bottom of the post and if you are reading this from the front page you will need to click on the Read More link to see them. Sometimes people judge a game by a screenshot and they can miss out on some great stuff as you will see today.

All releases are played for the eight minutes allowed in trials and impressions are made from that. If you would like for us to review your game in full, post an update on the progress of your game etc. please get in contact.

Chillax HD is a application that displays themed pictures and plays sounds that match them, for example a countryside picture would play bird noises. There are four themed pictures and accompanying sounds which are in 5.1 sound to choose from. It does what it says on the box and might be OK for playing in the background if you need to relax. Chillax HD costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.

Fishing Girl is a game about a girl, a boy, and an ocean full of fish. You play the girl and must rescue the boy (makes a change) from the other island. You do this by catching fish which earns you money to buy better equipment until eventually you can rescue the boy. You will have to play to find out how! There is something about this game that just makes you want to play more and although the trial is a bit limiting in what equipment you can buy you will get a good feel for the game and will be left wanting more. I will be reviewing the game in a week or so but don’t wait for me to say buy it now! Fishing Girl costs 80 :MSPoints: and you can find more information about the game here and check out the trailer at the end of this post.

Pixel Man is a platform game with a very retro design. The aim of the game is to get to the exit on each of the 30 levels, you have infinite lives but once you go back to the menu you have to restart from the first level. Despite the games intentionally (I hope) basic graphics and sound it has a charm to it, it is a fun game and well worth checking out. Pixel Man costs 80 :MSPoints: and you can find more information about the game here and check out the trailer at the end of this post.

PyroManic – Solo is an arcade style shooter game where you must shoot the falling ‘blobs’ with the matching fire colour. Presentation, graphics, music and sfx are all top notch and look like a XBLA retail game. The game is very fast paced and keeps you on your toes with some puzzle elements between the stages. A really good game and is definitely worth checking out! PyroManic – Solo costs 240 :MSPoints: and you can find out more information about the game here and check out the trailer at the end of this post.

Velocity is a puzzle game where you must guide your ball through puzzle Hell to reach the exit on each level. The ball can only travel horizontally and vertically so you must use the walls to stop movement and change direction. The game seems to work fine from what I played of it but I feel you might get sick of the metal music before long, its not really suited for long term puzzle game playing. Velocity costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.

Updated titles for either a price change or software updates are Philip Muwanga’s Hexy Trench, Karnn Age, CaveIn – Miner Rescue Team, CardArcade, Avatar Drop and Starfighter.
