A fairly quiet week for indie game releases with only six since last Friday. But don’t worry, there are plenty more games coming soon so see this as an opportunity to catch up on the many releases over the past few weeks.
10 Seconds or Less is a puzzle game for up to four players locally in which they must find the correct location of a part of an image in under ten seconds. The game is an interesting idea and with a few other players it could be quite fun for a while, I did find the photos to be very easy to locate the area so I hope the game has larger photos or more challenging gameplay. Worth checking out if you play games with friends, single player I am not so sure. 10 Seconds or Less costs 80
and more information can be found here.
Impossible Shoota is a twin stick shooter in which you must try and stay alive for as long as possible by shooting the increasingly harder enemies that spawn. This seems an average shooter and it brings nothing new to make it stand out from the countless other twin stick shooters available. If you like the genre then this could be worth a go, otherwise save your points. Impossible Shoota costs 80
and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.
Inevitable Outcome is a survival game where you must defend against an army of Slugs, makes a change from Zombies
Each wave lasts a day and sees the player battling it out during the day and night only with a torch to see around him. The game felt a little slow paced at times but otherwise it seemed to be an OK game with a selection of weapons to collect and a power up system where you can improve your weapons, speed etc. Inevitable Outcome costs 240
and more information can be found here.
Kaleidoscope is a platform game in which you play the character of Tint an inhabitant of the Kaleidoscope world. You must travel the world in search of lost colours and bring colour back to the world. Along the way are enemies to jump on to bring colour back to and the use of colour orbs to replenish your shields and other powers. The graphics are quite interesting and have a good feel to the surreal game. I did find the controls a little unreliable at times, the double jump did not work when I wanted or I would get caught on edges of platforms. Don’t let these observations put you off, Kaleidoscope looks to be an interesting game and one you should definitely check out. costs 240
and more information can be found here.
nega is a puzzle game in which you must guide a ball to a block before it runs out of time. You do this by creating a guide block which attracts the ball to where you place it, these blocks are also timed and when run out, the blocks will result in a game over if your ball touches them. The game idea is an interesting one and while the game looks quite basic it has some challenging gameplay, worth checking out if you like action puzzle games. nega costs 80
and more information can be found here.
Shooting Chicken Revenge is an action shooter in which you must shoot the flocks of chickens and complete the challenges. The presentation and graphics look great but I found the game to be quite repetitive. After a few minutes of running and gunning I found it easier to just stay in the middle and shoot left and right when needed. You may enjoy the game more than me so do check it out. Shooting Chicken Revenge costs 240
and more information can be found here.
Although Space Pirates from Tomorrow is not a new release, the game was originally released and then removed shortly afterwards by the authors due to a bug in the game, so we did not properly mention the game here last month. Space Pirates from Tomorrow is a game set in space where you must fight and trade to survive, a bit like the classic game Elite. The trial may put you off a little as it is hard to get a feel for this game in eight minutes, but I promise if you stick with it you will love this game. Space Pirates from Tomorrow costs 240
and more information can be found here and a trailer below.
Titles that have received a software update or price change are Angry Barry, Wool, Asphalt Jungle, Your Doodles Are Bugged!, Shellblast HD, Space Pirates from Tomorrow and Cyborg Mice Arena.

Some of those titles look interesting. While ‘Impossible Shoota’is just another twin stick shooter, those games are fun – but the complete lack of background music just ruins that one in particular.
I’ll be downloading the ‘Space Pirates from Tomorrow’ demo due to the fact that the trailer shows absolutely nothing that helps me to understand what its about. We shall see!
Impossible Shoota is not good at all.
Early impression only – I must admit Kaleidoscope is somewhat disappointing from what I have played so far. The issues with the controls are one thing and yes the game looks nice but it all kinda feels…. well dull, I am not sure if this is because you can’t die and this places no real challenge to the game or not. I also am kinda bored of the music already, by the 3rd level I was hoping it may have changed. Hmmm, I’ll work my way through the whole game
Shellblast HD is a decent puzzle game once you get used to the controls and definitely worth the 80 points imo.
You can die in Kaleidoscope, it returns you to a checkpoint. Although I think you get a generous amount of health so this may not be a regular occurance.
I reviewed Shellblast HD when it originally cost 400 points and thought very highly of it, now it is 80 points it is a must buy! Review is at http://games.emuboards.com/2009/09/17/shellblast-hd-review/
Yeah I meant to say that even though you can die it doesn’t really impact the game much as you just go back a little bit so it makes the game a little easy (from what I have played so far – 6 levels). Where as a certain number of lives may have. The music has grown on me more. There are some really good platformers on the service at the minute and this is another one, I will finish the game before I post a final opinion.
The update of Cyborg Mice Areana improves the game a fair bit. The graphics look better, several options and extras. It’s a decent game, that reminds me of Escape from the planet of the Robot Monsters
