Indie Games round up 18th February

Another fairly quiet week for indie game releases. I have heard there are over 50 games in peer review, not sure what the hold up is but I will guess there are not enough people who can review the games. Maybe it is time for Microsoft to change the peer review system?

Asylum is a kind of reverse Tower Defence game, instead of killing monsters you must get them through the defences to the asylum exit. Turrets with certain properties are placed on the ceiling and you must choose what type of monster to counteract the turrets to try to escape. Graphics are not too bad and the tutorial explains the game well, gameplay is not too bad either. Asylum costs 80 :MSPoints: and is worth checking out. More information can be found here.

Classic Solitaire is a game of the great timewaster Solitaire. Two game modes are included and it comes with a variety of backgrounds. The game plays well so if you enjoy a quick game of Solitaire now again then look no further. Classic Solitaire costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.

Curling 2010 arrives just in time for the Winter Olympics and is a game where you must push the stones and try to get as close to the target center as possible while also making sure your opponent doesn’t by hitting theirs to move them out the area. This is a really cool game (pun intended) and there is some strategy involved in placing your shots well to hit opponents and still remain in the target. The game sounds boring but honestly give it a try as it comes with local and Xbox Live multiplayer. Curling 2010 costs 240 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here and a trailer below.

Fish Listening to Radio is a quirky game with hand drawn style graphics. You control a fish that must protect the radio from the fishermen’s hooks. The graphics start off black and white and start to become coloured in as you gain score. An interesting game idea and I like the sense of progression as the screen becomes colourful, worth checking out. Fish Listening to Radio costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here and a trailer below.

Marauder Madness! is a ship based battle game in which you play as a pirate who must defeat enemy ships and ports and plunder the treasures. The game features 21 levels in a campaign mode and up to four player local deathmatches. The graphics are fairly good but I found the game a little boring as there are some tricks to easily defeat ships and ports. Give it a try, you may enjoy it more. Marauder Madness! costs 240 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here and a trailer below.

Star Cross is a SciFi-Fantasy RPG in which you play as Riel Gevant who joins others along the way. The game is a kind of 3D world which you travel from location to location indicated by arrows. The graphics really put me off this game, they have a fuzzy animation that reminds me of analogue TV stations not tuned in properly, it was doing my eyes in after a minute or two. If you can live with it the game could be interesting, the developer claims it has eight hours of gameplay. Star Cross costs 240 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.

Titles that have received a software update or price change are Light’s End, Jumper Robot, Antigrav Racing Championship, KGB Episode One and Soul.
