If you follow me on Twitter or have spotted the site tagline you will have noticed we will have a new domain name soon. I will announce the domain name on Sunday night once the DNS has updated. The new domain is quite catchy and I hope you will like it as everyone that I have mentioned it to did. Now onto the round up of indie game news from the past few days.
UberGeekGames posted a new trailer of their Dream.Build.Play 2010 entry Avatar Land. It is a traditional 2D platform game with a level editor and looks very good, another to keep an eye out for! You can view the trailer here or below.
glPeas posted a new video of their game BlindGiRl, it is hard to describe the game but it appears to be a puzzle game where you must use sound waves to navigate a maze. A very original idea so one to keep an eye out for. You can view the trailer here or below.
Funavision posted a video of their in development and currently untitled game which is a bit like Space Invaders but more modern. I liked the look of this and should be a nice release. Check out the video here.
XBLA & XBLIG Ratings posted an announcement for a forthcoming indie game called JoyJoy. JoyJoy is an intense twin-stick shooter with a beautiful art style, upbeat soundtrack, and immensely satisfying and customizable gameplay. Full details and the trailer can be found here.
XBLA & XBLIG Ratings posted an announcement for the forthcoming Tower Defense style game called Scribble Defense. Players move around as avatars, money is not automatically deposited, it has to be picked up, towers are effectively “upgraded” if the player is within their attack distance, as well as movable waypoints. Sounds an interesting idea, check out the full details and trailer here.
Here is a round up of indie game reviews from other sites, any with a number means a second review: MotorHEAT (2), Nasty, Hypno Vol. 1, Soulcaster (2), Canno Blast, Shoot 1UP, Kaotik, Avatar Showdown (2), Pixel Killer and Wordzy.
Finally a mention to Two Fedoras who review indie games and I only just found their site, visit them! And to keep up to date with the latest indie games and XBLA trailers don’t forget to visit Xbox Hornets video site here. If you have a indie game related site mail us for a plug and also I can keep track of reviews and news to add above.

Ooh! Can’t wait to see what the new name and tag is gonna be
Soon.
I’m actually intrigued by Avatar Land. I’m going to give the demo a go-around later today. BlindGiRl also looks really good, so I’ll grab that demo as well.
BlindGiRl looks fantastic, and there look to be some cool features in it where players can choose to play as a colourblind person to see how they are affected in the game
It is very close to my heart, and I’m really looking forward to it
I hear I may have been part of the inspiration behind the game with my incessant ‘tweets’ about problems for colourblind gamers, hehehe!
Fame!
Bryan I’d liked to know what you think of Avatar Land, I am going to give it another run through tonight.
I have played Blindgirl and it is a nice game and immediately I saw the Colourblind option I thought of you Hodsey =)
For some reason, neither game is listed on my Indie Games Marketplace, both on the console and the web marketplace site. If they’re released, then Canada doesn’t have access to them I suppose.
Hey thanks for the Two Fedoras shout out!
They are still in testing Bryan, thought you had access. I think Avatar Land has a while still to go from what I have played. Blindgirl will be out in a few weeks I would think, after testing, peer review etc.
Ah. No, I don’t have access to those unfortunately.
I may however have my hands on Scrap Metal on Monday, and if it happens, I can hopefully have the review up by Tuesday night or early Wednesday. I’ll see what I can do about getting 1-2 extra codes for a giveaway here at… Emuholic’s Game Blog. (Whoops.. tempted to say the new name there!)
