Indie Games round up 26th March

Seven games in today’s round up of Indie Game releases. My pick of the bunch are BlindGiRl and Flotilla, but do check them all out. If any developers would like us to review their game in full, please get in contact with us for more information.

Aliens go boomAliens Go Boom is a retro horizontal scrolling shooter. Aliens have gone and invaded earth again and it is up to you to stop them by blowing up waves of enemy ships. Power ups are available and activated through holding button combinations with your main fire which is an interesting idea. Game play is a little slow though and did not really get me into the game. Worth investigating further and the full game only costs 80 :MSPoints:. More information can be found here and a trailer below.

Are you fast enoughAre you fast enough? is a arcade puzzle game which you must place lines of blocks on top of each other to build a tower and score points. If one of the blocks is not placed correctly you get a shorter line the following turn. This game idea has been a done a few times with various success, but I found Are you fast enough? a bit lacking, like something was missing to give it that spark. I will have a full review in a day or two. Are you fast enough? costs 80 :MSPoints: and you can find more information here.

Blackjack Strategy KingBlackjack Strategy King teaches you how to play the card game Blackjack and contains a fully playable game, as well as guides including basic strategy and card counting. Some useful information is provided and worth checking out if you want to learn some tips to get the upper hand. There are also awards, cheats and other options included. Blackjack Strategy King costs 240 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.

BlindGiRlBlindGiRl is an experimental adventure game. You play as a girl who is lost in a word of darkness and confusion. You must use your footsteps to explore the maze like world and collect music notes which can be played to reveal the surrounding area. This is a really interesting and original game idea and the eight minute trial was over before I knew it. Be sure to check this game out! BlindGiRl costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below. Also we should have a review for BlindGiRl shortly so keep an eye out for it.

FlipSideFlipSide is an arcade game that requires you to control two ships independently using the two thumb sticks on your controller. You move these two ships through vertical scrolling gates, colliding with a wall is game over. This is a very tricky game to play and it takes some skill to keep track of both ships and the gates. I can think of a few other F words to describe this game! If you enjoy a very challenging game then check this one out. FlipSide costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.

FlotillaFlotilla is a space based strategy game in which you explore the universe in a story driven game which leads to battles. The battles take place in a 3D view and is kind of turn based with real time battle sequences, hard to explain but looks very cool! The presentation and graphics look great and I was just getting into the game when the trial limit was over. If you like combat strategy games this looks to be a must have! Flotilla costs 400 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.

Newton's New TonesNewton’s New Tones is a weird one to explain. You know the managers desk toy with the clashing balls? Newton’s New Tones is based on that and uses them to generate music. It works surprisingly well and the demo music that is generated with multiple toys sounds fairly good. This probably wont be of interest to everyone but if you like experimental ideas this is worth checking out at least. Newton’s New Tones costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.

Titles that have received a software update or price change are Asphalt Jungle, Yet Another Zombie Defense, Pixel Whirled, Astro Taxi, Christmas Tree 3D and CarneyVale Showtime.
