Indie Games Round Up 30th March

Six new games in this round up of Indie Games releases. My pick of the bunch is Pew Pew Pod, but as always do try them all out! If any indie developers would like us to review your game in full, please get in contact with us for more details.

Avalon LegendAvalon Legend is an arena survival game in which you must destroy the ever spawning enemies. There are some nice weapon features including an ability to create a spinning blade to help defend while you are concentrating on enemies elsewhere. The game played well and keeping the enemies at bay was a decent challenge. Worth checking out at 240 :MSPoints:. More information can be found here and a trailer below.

Balate - The Last KingdomBalate – The Last Kingdom is an arcade style game in which you must defend a tower from Orcs that are trying to climb to the top. You can throw rocks down at them but if they reach the top you must fight them close range via a press the shown button prompt which appears. I found the game quite tricky to play, there are only two rocks to throw at any time, collecting them and moving took a while to do, by then you are probably over run by orcs. Give this game a try as it looked fairly good and you may have better luck than me. Balate – The Last Kingdom costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.

Dangerous Conflicts 3DDangerous Conflicts 3D is a Wolfenstein 3D style first person game. You must find the exit to the level while shooting or avoiding the enemies. Sounds good in theory but unfortunately this is not, the graphics and gameplay are ropey.  Enemies are just coded to shoot on sight and have no challenging AI. One to avoid! Dangerous Conflicts 3D costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.

MechfishMechFish is an arcade shooter in which you control a mechanised fish and must work your way through the watery level by jumping rocks, dodging mines and shooting other fish. The game is not bad and the variety of obstacles keeps the game feeling fresh but I did find it a little predictable as the obstacles come in groups. I think further in the game this may be less of a problem so it is worth checking out at least. MechFish costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.

Pew Pew PodPew Pew Pod is a Geometry Wars inspired twin stick shooter. There are a few modes to play which is good to see, only two were allowed in the trial but it gives you a good idea of what the game is like. Graphics are bright and colourful and from what I played it looks to be a decent shooter. We will have a full review of the game in a couple of days, so in the meantime check it out here as it only costs 80 :MSPoints:, a trailer can be found below.

Zulu HourZulu Hour is a top down shooter. The game seems to play fine and the presentation and graphics are done well, but I was not immediately a fan of the way the bullets drifted to one side when you fire while moving. As you play a bit more you do get the hang of it and can use to your advantage for attacking static enemies. The action is not too bad, if you like shooters you should enjoy this. Zulu Hour costs 240 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer is below.

Titles that have received a software update or price change are Your Doodles Are Bugged!, XMAS Taxi, Twin Blades and Along Came A Spider.
