Concentrix review

Concentrix is a puzzle game that requires you to match colored patterns, without filling your playing field to the limit. Is it worth a go, or will it leave you wanting more? Read on to find out.[singlepic id=1260 w=320 h=240 float=center]

The game offers 8 modes to play around with, and it’s solely a single player experience. Each mode basically offers a different pattern of colored blocks that you’ll have to work with. As the player, you are required to form patterns of three or more of the blocks, typically in either horizontal or vertical fashion, causing them to disappear and allow more space to work with.

As you knock out more and more sets, you’ll being to notice more colors being added to the mix, and it will quickly become harder to form the required patterns. If the blocks build up too much, it’s game over. Sound familiar? Well, any if you like puzzle games even just a little, you should be thinking about Tetris right now.

As you progress in the game, you move up in levels. This causes new colors to get added to the mix, as well as faster moving blocks. The challenge ramps up quickly, and in some modes, you’ll often find one portion of the playing field build up much quicker, due to the formation of the blocks you’re required to work with. The concept is always the same, but the game modes offer a moderate level of challenge for all players.

In terms of graphics, the game is rather disappointing. Although the game supports 720p resolutions, the colors appears to be rather bland and flat. It would surely look more appealing if everything were brighter and more vibrant. Backgrounds are dynamic, and do look pretty decent, but it’s the same pattern over and over with a few color variations.

Background music and sound effects are present, but there are no truly ‘catchy’ tunes, though it sounds decent as-is. Sounds effects are basic when lines and sets of blocks are formed, nothing spectacular, but it’s about what you can expect from this type of game.

Concentrix is a decent puzzle experience, but it gets old rather fast. At 240 :MSPoints: – you may pass due to lack of LIVE multiplayer, and due to the fact that the single player is rather shallow. Still, for avid puzzle fans, you may find it fun when there’s nothing else to play, and just want to have a quick 5-10 minute gaming session.

You can find out more information about Concentrix as well as download the trial or full version of the game on the Marketplace.
