Indie Games Round Up 27th April

A packed round up of indie games, thirteen in total! There is a good mix of releases; puzzles, arcade, shooters and even a RPG so hopefully there is something that catches your eye. Don’t forget to leave a rating if you play the game, you can do this either on the Marketplace page or on the 360 Dashboard on the games information page.

Ace Gals TennisAce Gals Tennis is a Wii Sports like tennis game. Your avatar automatically moves towards the ball and all you have to do is time your return of the ball by tapping the A button. Presentation and graphics look great and it comes with quick play and tournament modes to work through. Unfortunately there is only support for one player, a two player mode either locally or online would have been perfect. We will have a full review of the game shortly. Ace Gals Tennis costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found on page 2.

Avatar OnslaughtAvatar Onslaught is a kind of survival game, your avatar must defend his line against the waves of avatars by throwing water balloons at them. At the end of each wave you can upgrade a skill such as faster reloading and rapid firing. The game is fairly fun and comes with global leaderboards to compare your scores with others. Worth checking out at least. Avatar Onslaught costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.

Bible TriviaBible Trivia is a multiple choice quiz game with questions from the Old and New Testament. Rounds come with 25 questions and once completed there is a simple mini game where you must shoot Goliath with a catapult. This game probably wont be for everyone but if you want to brush up on your religious trivia it could be useful. Bible Trivia costs 240 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.

Bingo PartyBingo Party is a bingo themed game that allows up to 31 players online to play together. The trial was very limited in what I could play, so it was hard to get an impression of the game as all I could find was a single player game with one card which turned out to be boring. The full game could be interesting if the online play is popular. If you like bingo games this could be worth a shot. Bingo Party costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found on page 2.

Breath of Death VIIBreath of Death VII is a parody Role Playing Game which the name of the game suggests. Playing a RPG in a eight minute trial is tricky but it appears to be quite good from what I could see. Graphics are retro inspired, though strangely lacking backgrounds in the battles. The information says the adventure should last around 4 to 6 hours which is not too bad for 80 :MSPoints:. If you are a RPG fan this is well worth checking out at least. More information on Breath of Death VII can be found here and a trailer on page 2.

Change of ColorChange of Color is a physics based puzzle game. You play an artist who flicks coloured paint at objects which in turn changes their properties allowing you to push and pull one object which if connected will affect another. It was tricky to get to grips with the game within the trial limit as it was quite in depth, but it looks to be an interesting puzzle game if you check out the trailer. Change of Color costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found on page 2.

Easy RacingEasy Racing is a top down racing game for up to four players locally. Unfortunately the game was partially unplayable as the lap counter seems to be broken, the first time I done three laps on a one lap race then the second game the lap counter showed -1/1. Completing a lap changed it to 0/1 and put me from first to last place. Because of this the game is hard to recommend. Easy Racing costs a staggering 400 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.

Exelinya BurstExelinya Burst is an arcade game inspired by Every Extend Extra. You control a character with a grappling hook and must pull and push objects into each other which explode on contact and explode any nearby objects causing a chain reaction. Graphics are good quality, music is explosion driven and the gameplay is good fun. Regular readers will know I am a big fan of the DK Alpha games and this game is another in their collection that you must check out! Exelinya Burst costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here. NOTE: Description is in Japanese but in game text is in English.

Inferno BallInferno Ball is a Pong style game which supports up to two players locally and online. The gameplay is essentially Pong with a paddle and ball but you also have weapons that can be shot at the ball to alter its path. The game is fairly good fun, should be better playing against a friend, if you have a friend available or want to play online this should be worth checking out at least. Inferno Ball costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here and a trailer on page 2.

InvaderInvader is a twin stick shooter mixed with traditional vertical scrolling. Graphics are fairly good and there is plenty of action to keep you occupied. More enemies are on screen than usual shooters, but thanks to the twin stick shooting method you can fire in any direction which makes a nice change from only being able to shoot upwards. A nice twist on the genre and well worth checking out as it only costs 80 :MSPoints:. More information on Invader can be found here and a trailer on page 2.

LaserbreakerLaserbreaker is a puzzle game that requires you to destroy a target with a laser. The target is protected by coloured blocks than can only be destroyed with a shot from your laser of the same colour. The trial only let you play certain levels but it gives a good overview of the game and it is actually quite fun and original. A single player and two player versus mode are available to play to keep things fresh. Laserbreaker does cost 400 :MSPoints: but we will be fully reviewing it soon so we will let you know if it is worth the price. More information on Laserbreaker can be found here and a trailer on page 2.

NLL Lacrosse 2010NLL Lacrosse 2010 is by the same developer who released the much publicised Inside Lacrosse’s CL2010 last year. The graphics have received quite a noticeable overhaul and it is now sponsored by Reebok. The game also features all of the eleven National Lacrosse League teams and their 250 players. If you are a fan of the original then you should definitely check out this new version as it seems to have improved in all the right places.  It does cost 400 :MSPoints: again, a bit much considering the original is barely six months old! More information can be found here and a trailer on page 2.

YASSYASS is a horizontal scrolling shooter for up to four players locally in a co-op mode. Action is very fast paced with plenty of enemy craft to shoot but I found it a little tricky to play as it was sometimes hard to see the enemy bullets as the background were similar colours. The levels are quite long with a boss at the end that takes some shooting to destroy. We will be reviewing the game in full shortly. YASS costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer on page 2.

Titles that have received a software update or price change are Astro Match3, Dark Seal, Beat Hazard, Lethal Judgment, Truth or Dare?, Ninja Chop!!, Yet Another Zombie Defense, Avatar Showdown, TiME K, Bizzy Bee, Ikaroids and Catch22.

Trailers for the newly released games can be found on page 2.
