I did that exact same thing in the beginning of Murky Horizon. I wonder if later there are flying enemies that can get over the walls.

No flying enemies in Murky Horizon but there are berserkers in later levels that break down your walls and let the smaller lizards in. Gets really tough in the later levels too especially on hard and nightmare modes
