Indie Games Round Up 11th May

Eleven games in this round up of indie game releases over the past couple of days.

Anger Management 2Anger Management 2 is the sequel to Anger Management released a couple of months ago. The sequel sees you play an asteroids style game with some accompanying (annoying) music. That is all there is to the game and as such not worth the 80 :MSPoints: being asked for the game. More information can be found on the Marketplace here.

ChalkedChalked is a third person 3D game which you can play as attacker or defender. Attacking involves you destroying buildings by entering them and pressing the shown button sequence to activate a bomb, while avoiding the defenders. Defending the buildings requires you to locate and capture the attackers. It is an interesting game idea but I did find it to be a little unfair as defenders waited outside the building to capture you when you leave, unless I missed something to avoid them. Worth checking out at least. More information can be found on the Marketplace here.

Haxor LoozHaXor LooZ is an up to four player game CPU or human players. The aim of the game is to claim LED’s by taking turns to light them up. To be honest I found the game confusing to play and could not work out what exactly I was supposed to do. Give it a try and see if you can work it out because the game does look to be fairly good. HaXor LooZ costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.

Hot Potato HDHot Potato HD is a game for up to however many people you have around you. The controller is passed between the players and whoever gets the hot potato is the looser. The music is kinda funny but this is the only redeeming feature of the game as all you essentially get is a flashing screen for your 80 :MSPoints:, might be fun at a party or something. More information can be found on the Marketplace here.

MatchingPairMatchingPair is the first of two card matching games in this round up. You start with just a few cards to flip over and match and as you progress more cards are added to make it harder. 50 unique cards are available and are unlocked as you progress, the designs are quite well done and are characters complete with a bio on them once unlocked. Not a bad game at 80 :MSPoints:, if you like card matching games it is worth checking out. More information can be found on the Marketplace and a trailer below.

Meeturmatch Avatar EditionMeetURMatch (Avatar Edition) is a new version of the tile matching game released around a year ago, this time updated to include avatars and some new features including High Scores, new gameplay and screens. Up to four players can play to match the tiles which is a nice twist on the card matching genre. It is better than MatchingPair but this does cost 240 :MSPoints: so again it is worth checking out if you like the genre. More information can be found on the Marketplace.

Nomis Legacy IslandsNomis: Legacy Islands is a 2D platform/shooter game. Your task is to defeat the robot general before he can resurrect a weapon hidden long ago. At your disposal are a number of weapons and a very useful stealth mode that can be used to sneak up on enemies and melee attack them. Upgrades are also available via a shop. Graphics look good and the game is fun to play, if you have a friend you can play local co-op. It looks to be a decent game and well worth checking out! Nomis: Legacy Islands costs 240 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.

Pallet LoaderPallet Loader is an puzzle game where you play as a forklift driver. You must collect crates and other items and place them on the correct shelves within the time limit. Money is earned per correct delivery and can be used to upgrade your forklift. It looked to be a fun game but I found some items were hidden behind the HUD such as the stopwatch, not sure if this is intentional or not but was quite annoying as it couldn’t be fully seen or looked liked part of the HUD. Otherwise this is not a bad game, worth checking out at least. Pallet Loader costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found on the Marketplace.

ScathaScatha is a campaign based real time strategy game. I spent the eight minutes trial playing the tutorial which is done well but towards the end I got a Code 4 error and was returned to the dashboard. The game does look to be good but as per the trial impression rules I only play the game for 8 minutes so I did not get to play the actual game. You can build harvestors, combat units, attack enemies and conquer buildings. If you are a RTS fan this should be worth checking out. Scatha costs 400 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here.

Text ZedventureText Zedventure is a nod in the direction of the text adventure days. In Text Zedventure you do not need to type out your commands, but instead choose from colour coded options such as ‘Open the door’ that are available. This does take out some of the fun of the genre as you are basically left with an interactive story rather than an adventure game. Three chapters are available in the full game, not sure how long they last though. Some of the money from the game is going to the Save The Rhino charity so if you want to do a good deed you could buy this as it only costs 80 :MSPoints:. More information can be found on the Marketplace here.

The Perfect Pickup LineLast and least is The Perfect Pickup Line which I left out in the last round up as I forgot to download it. I wish I did not remember the game as it is bloody awful! It is the latest from Silver Dollar Games and their entry to the Old Spice Challenge and sees you trying to chat up women by choosing missing words from chat up lines. Don’t bother with this, just don’t! The Perfect Pickup Line costs 240 :MSPoints: and more information can be found here, a trailer can be found below.

Titles that have received a software update or price change are Flotilla and Inevitable Outcome.

Trailers for the new releases can be found below.
