Mind’s Eye of Jupiter – Episode 02 Review

It’s been about 6 months since we reviewed Mind’s Eye of Jupiter – 01, and now the sequel has arrived on the Indie marketplace. Is it worth spending time with it, or should you have your eye on something else to play.  Read on to learn more about the sequel.

Episode 02 hasn’t changed much from its prequel game, and you’ve got little to no real direction on the tasks at hand, so you’ll need to be very vigilant and pay attention to every minute detail in your immediate environment. While some of the odd creatures in the game will tell you what has to be done, you’ll need to figure out your own way on how to get to that point and perform the given tasks. You may spend minutes, or you may spend hours trying to progress in the game.

The abilities in the sequel are the same on episode 01, allowing you to interact with various areas in the world, talk to characters, and use items.  Once again, some of the dialogue is humorous, but it quickly becomes stale due to overuse.

In terms of presentation, Mind’s Eye on Jupiter – Episode 02 is on par with its predecessor. Visuals haven’t really changed and resemble early PC games when 3D was just starting out.  Various colors fill the world and there’s a decent amount of variation in the design. Sound effects are about the same once again,  and you won’t really find much background music outside of ambient sound effects to re-enforce the seemingly lonely world you’re in. As for the plot, it doesn’t really seem to move forward much or grasp your interest, so you don’t feel compelled to continue with your overly challenging quest.

Mind’s Eye on Jupiter – Episode 02 is available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for another 240 :MSPoints: like the first game. If you played the first and enjoyed it, you’ll want to check it out. But, if you don’t enjoy mindful games like MYST, this is likely a title you’ll want to avoid.
