1st year anniversary of the site and a big competition to celebrate

Today (July 29th) is the official 1st anniversary of the launch date of this site, back when it was known as Emuholic’s Games Blog. It originally started as a small blog for somewhere I could write occasional game reviews and has quickly grown over the past year into a multi staff website covering more content and of course the name change to Gamergeddon.

Looking back, it has been an exciting year. Seeing the site change over the months has been great fun, and along the way I have had a few staff join the team which without them I would still likely be writing occasional reviews! So I would like to firstly say a big thanks to Bryan who has done an amazing job on the site, as well as being our PR guy he writes some great reviews and articles and always gets the job done. This site is as much his as it is mine and he fully deserves it! Our reviewers (past and present) have also done a great job; Iggypu, Bradley, Cyber_Axe and Jolly Buccaneer have been keeping the site active with their reviews. We have new reviewers starting soon, so I will welcome them properly in the next week.

Most of all, I would like to thank our visitors, some of which have been supporting us from the start. I do not want to mention names as I know I will forget someone, but you know who you are and we really appreciate your support, and we wouldn’t be here without you. One more person I would like to thank is Ben aka @wargamer17 on Twitter who created our new logo.

Originally, I was planning to host a gaming weekend with the staff and community, but as you may know my Xbox decided to RROD last week so that totally messed my plans up. I will try and organize this at a later date.

Now, you’ve all been waiting for this…Birthday Presents!! Send them to the following address:

Hopefully we’ll also have five t-shirts courtesy of the Adrift developers if we get it all arranged in time. The competitions will be split over two days Day 1 will be Friday, July 30 (Yes, that’s tomorrow!) and Day 2 will follow on Saturday, July 31st. Both competitions will be starting in the afternoon (UK time). The competitions will be in a variety of entry formats so hopefully everyone can take part. Keep an eye out for the posts starting tomorrow.
