Black Ops sets new entertainment industry sales record

It seems Call of Duty: Black Ops has been selling well, quite well in fact! Activison announced this morning that the popular first-person shooter grossed more than $650 million worldwide in its first five days on sale. While it’s not really a surprise that Black Ops would be popular, it may surprise some of you to know that the game is now the best-selling item in any form of entertainment including the box office and books (Sorry Potter fans!). Curious to know how that transfers into the number of players? Take a look at these couple facts released by Microsoft!

According to Microsoft:

  • More than 5.9 million multiplayer hours were logged playing Call of Duty: Black Ops by end of launch day, November 9.
  • More than 2.6 million unique gamers played Call of Duty: Black Ops in one day on November 9.

Not bad, huh? If you’re interested in getting in on the action yourself, head to your latest retailer or check out Amazon.com!

Call of Duty: Blacks Ops is rated M and is available on a variety of platforms including Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. To check out our review and see what we thought, click here!
