Xbox Indie Games Round Up – January 4th

The New Year brings us eleven new releases and ten updates in this weeks round up of Xbox Indie Games.

Below is the compilation video showing gameplay footage from all of this weeks new releases. The blue bar on the right side of the video is now finally gone, but I think the volume levels may be a little too high so I will get that fixed for next week. Talking of next week, the round up articles will return to their usual Sunday’s now that Christmas and New Year are out the way.

Here are this weeks releases and updates sorted in a rough order on how good they are over three categories. Trial impressions have been wrote for the Geddon it! category games, the rest use the developers descriptions. Please take a look at all the games as something may interest you. There are trailers made by the developers for the new releases which can be found on Page 2.

Cthulhu Saves the WorldCthulhu Saves the World is from the makers of last years popular RPG Breath of Death VII: The Beginning so you should all know that this is a must buy title. The story goes that you are Cthulhu, the lord of insanity, who has lost his powers and the only way to get them back is to become an hero. The game features seven playable characters over a story which lasts between 6 to 10 hours. There are multiple modes and difficulties which should cater for everyone, especially as it only costs 240 :MSPoints:. This looks to be a great game and we should have a full review online soon, in the meantime download the trial via the Marketplace, a trailer can be found on Page 2.

Avatar KartingAvatar Karting is a sequel of sorts from the makers of last years Avatar Racedrome (review here). This time you are put in the seat of Go Karts with 16 tracks to race on either online or against AI. Like the original the driving controls are tricky to get the hang of but there are settings in the menu to change this so give that a try as one will be more suitable for you. The original was a lot of fun and this looks to be more of the same and is well worth checking out. Avatar Karting costs 80 :MSPoints: and more information can be found on the Marketplace.

GrappleBoyGrappleBoy looks like Super Meat Boy at first glance and it is actually quite similar in gameplay terms. You control GrappleBoy and must make it to the exit flag without dying. Unlike SMB, GrappleBoy can grab on to scenery with his tongue then swing and extend it to reach otherwise impossible to reach places. The grappling does take a bit of getting used to but once you play for a while you get the hang of it. From what I played it looks to be a decent game and well worth the 80 :MSPoints:, give it a try! More information can be found on the Marketplace.
