Magic the Gathering Exceeds 500,000 Downloads

Congratulations to Stainless Games and Wizards of the Coast LLC on breaking the 500,000 mark in sales. Magic the Gathering (XBLA) released on June 17, 2009 for an MSRP of $10 and recently made its way onto the PlayStation Network.[singlepic id=4630 w=320 h=240 float=center]

The digital versions of Magic the Gathering bring the physical card game into the digital age where you fight with magical and mythical creatures against other planeswalkers in one-on-one duels.  For a small fee you can save time and unlock full decks for $1 each, and you can even upgrade your cards to premium foil versions to show off to your friends and opponents.

Three DLC packs which feature all new decks and corresponding campaigns are available at 400 :MSPoints: / $5 each and these packs are great to extend the gameplay and get into more intense battles with others online.

Do yourself a favor and check out the demo on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace or PlayStation Network.

As a personal side note, I’ve never played the card game itself, but I recently tried the XBLA title due to recommendations of friends, and now I’m working my way through the DLC campaign battles. Magic the Gathering is one of the best titles on XBLA, and it’s not overwhelming to learn thanks to the great tutorial system.
