The trailer appears to not show much but if you take it apart it shows a soldier, a tank (M1A2 I think), a US helicopter being shot down and what I think is the Russian SU-37 plane (from the little front wing things). So this could mean it is the old favourite of US vs Russia. Nothing official has been announced but we will post more details when available.

Battlefield 3 is the true successor to Battlefield 2. Beyond our signature multiplayer, we have also included a full single-player campaign and a co-op campaign – all straight out of the box.
