Avatar Workout Review

Is your Avatar looking a little overweight after Easter? Send them to the new trainer in town for a workout!

Avatar Workout is a memory game where you must learn and repeat actions. At the start of a workout, the trainer will show you a number of moves and their respective button presses which you must memorise. For example the A button could be a jump action, Y to jog on the spot and B a karate kick. After the memorising introduction, the trainer will perform an action and you must remember what button accompanies that move and press it.

You can play Avatar Workout against a CPU or Human player in up to 20 rounds of exercises. You compete against the second player by correctly matching the shown actions and win or lose points on the results. The exercises start off fairly tame with you only having to learn three different actions. As you progress through the rounds, every button on the controller is used. The actions and buttons change every round which is quite challenging. The game does get quite hard in later levels so I would guess with some time you can improve your short term memory.

Graphically the game is rather poor with plain static locations, I would have liked to have seen something more visual to make the game interesting. Music and sounds are poor with a looping music track that does not suit the game. There are a few sounds for correctly performing actions but they are nothing special.

I can’t honestly say Avatar Workout is worth the money at 80 :MSPoints:. I will say that if you like memory games you may want to try the trial at least. There is a good game idea somewhere but Avatar Workout does not quite hit the spot.

You can download the trial or purchase the full version of Avatar Workout on the Xbox Marketplace.
