Xbox Indie Game Round Up – Episode 132

This weeks Xbox Indie Game Round Up includes Dark Delve, FastBall 2, Robotriot and Wizorb.

The overall quality of releases this week are very good, a couple just missed out on the top category so do check them out. Below is our compilation video showing gameplay from the weeks releases. Please take a look and don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/TheGamergeddon.

Up next are this weeks releases sorted in a rough order on how good they are over three categories. Trial impressions have been wrote for the Geddon it! category games and they are a must try and/or buy. Armehgeddon is a category that has some games that are worth considering at least playing the trial to see if you like them, they are by no means bad. The final category, Armageddon outta here!, contains games that are probably not worth the time unless something sounds interesting to you. Both the Armehgeddon and Armageddon outta here! use the developers game descriptions.

Geddon It!

Dark Delve – 80 :MSPoints: – MarketplaceTrailer

[singlepic id=8078 w=320 h=240 float=center]

Dark Delve is a dungeon crawler in a similar style to Bards Tale and more recently the Nintendo DS game The Dark Spire. You control a party of adventurers exploring dungeons and must solve simple puzzles such as finding a lever which stops the flow of slime, while attacking enemies in a turn based format. The campaign mode allows you to create a party of up to four players, or you can play the challenge mode which creates everything for you automatically and sets you a task to complete. If you are a fan of dungeon crawlers you have probably already headed over to the marketplace to purchase this game, if not then what you waiting for? Give the trial version a try, it looks to be a bargain for 80 :MSPoints.

FastBall 2 – 80 :MSPoints: – Marketplace

[singlepic id=8080 w=320 h=240 float=center]

The popular casual game from the iPhone makes its way to XBLIG. Fastball is a simple yet addictive game that sees you controlling a ball which moves along the platforms, you press a button to avoid obstacles such as walls or traps and collect stars. This genre has been done to death with ‘marathon’ style levels where you must survive for as long as possible, but Fastball is cut down to shorter levels which makes the game much more casual and enjoyable. Graphics and audio are nicely done and it plays very well, I definitely prefer the shorter levels than the marathon levels. It is only 80 :MSPoints: and well worth a try.

Robotriot – 80 :MSPoints: – MarketplaceTrailer

[singlepic id=8084 w=320 h=240 float=center]

Robotriot is a retro style platform game where you play the role of Slug, a freelance inter-galatic repossessions agent. Your task is to explore the levels and take over the ship by reaching the end of the level. Obstacles include enemy robots and hazards which usually require you to find and deactivate the power by shooting a switch. The 16-bit graphics style looks great and combined with the authentic music it feels like you are playing a retro game. My only concern is that the game may be a little short, it says there are 12 levels and I breezed through the first few within the trial period, so this is something to be aware of as it could be short but sweet. Give the trial a go at least and decide from that.

Armehgeddon

This category has games that are well worth trying if the developers descriptions interest you. The games are by no means bad, but may lack the quality, design, price or something else that keeps it out the top category.

Ball LightningBall Lightning – 80 :MSPoints: – MarketplaceTrailer

Easy to learn, challenging to master, Ball Lightning is the first title in the “simple.fun” campaign series. Test your reflexes and your wits across seven increasingly difficult levels in this arcade-style platformer from Amalgamation Softworks. Collect power-ups, avoid traps and other obstacles, rescue your wizard, and escape the dungeon!

Armageddon outta here!

This category is for games that you may want to avoid on the reasons such as low quality, bugs, bad design, high price or playability. Some games are still playable but the overall opinion is they are probably not worth buying. Developers game descriptions are used.

AstraliaAstralia – 80 :MSPoints: – MarketplaceTrailer

Astralia is “A Real-time Strategy Shooter Experiment”, a top down space shooter with RTS elements; in addition to your own ship you control a squad of drone fighters with multiple formations and weapons.
